highs and lows

Today Nick and I went in to see his oncologist. Unfortunately Dr. Dosik hurt his back this week so his second-in-command met with us instead. The doctor just checked in with Nick to make sure he was doing ok and that the chemo wasn't doing too much damage to him. His white blood cell count was up, thanks to all the shots he has been getting. The only bad news is that his platelet count was extremely low. If it doesn't climb back up before Thursday Nick won't be able to have his treatment. The worst part about this is there isn't a shot like there is for the white blood cells, so we just have to cross our fingers and hope for the best.

Second Chemo

While the first attempt at a second treatment was a no go, the second turn around was a charm and I'm at home takin' it easy and feeling relatively normal.

I have to go in tomorrow for the Neulesta injection which should boost my white blood cells for the next week and give me bone pain for a couple of days.

Pence and part of my family will be out here the week of the 27th so if there are baked goods or legos that anyone wants to send out with them, feel free.

Shout out to Christy Webster for some great books, Aunt Diane for some South Park DVD's that should be arriving shortly, Maria for the random stuff, and Cera for manning the ramparts.

Second Treatment Postponed

So a few things have happened since my first treatment.

1) Hair started to fall out, so I shaved my head

2) Went in for my second treatment and my white blood cell count was too low for them to safely administer the chemo drugs...so I get to go to the hospital monday, tuesday, and wednesday for white blood cell inducing drug injections (neupegin), and my treatments are now on thursdays so I can get the white blood cell inducing drug injection (neulesta) on Fridays. This means I will not be coming home as planned, so for all those who want to see me, you have to come to me.

Other than that, everything's normal, my body feels good and only my bones hurt after the neupegin injection.

FYI, the wish list has been updated so if you didn't see something that you wanted to buy me before, maybe there's something now.
